Sri Lanka Awards Nearly US$6 Million Contract for First Utility-Scale Battery Storage System

On 3 November, the Cabinet approved a multi-currency contract for a 100 MW/100 MWh battery energy storage system at the Kolonnawa Grid Substation. The contract, awarded to a Ceylex Engineering and Xingneng Electric Power Construction joint venture, totals approximately US$1.27 million, €2.61 million and Rs. 555.13 million, excluding taxes.
